DailyStandup ("we", "our", or "us") operates the website dailystandup.io and the DailyStandup application at app.dailystandup.io (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Service.

By using DailyStandup, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account information: Your name, email address, and password when you create an account.
  • Check-in content: The text of your standup updates, including what you did, what you plan to do, blockers, and mood selections.
  • Linked work items: References to pull requests, issues, design files, and other work items you attach to your check-ins via connected integrations (GitHub, Linear, Jira, Figma, Slack).
  • Organisation and team data: Team names, member lists, and standup configuration settings.
  • Payment information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment details are collected and processed by our payment provider. We do not store your full card number.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, timestamps, and interactions with the Service.
  • Device information: Browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and device identifiers.
  • Log data: IP address, referral URLs, and access times.
  • Cookies: We use essential cookies for authentication and session management, and optional analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the Service: Process your check-ins, generate AI summaries, and deliver features you use.
  • Generate AI summaries: Your check-in content is sent to Claude by Anthropic to produce daily team summaries, detect blockers, and identify patterns. This processing happens in real time and is not stored by Anthropic beyond the request.
  • Communicate with you: Send standup reminders, summary notifications, account-related emails, and product updates.
  • Improve the Service: Analyse usage patterns to fix bugs, improve performance, and develop new features.
  • Ensure security: Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats.

AI Processing

DailyStandup uses Claude, an AI assistant built by Anthropic, to generate team summaries and insights from your check-in data.

  • Your standup data is sent to Anthropic's API for processing.
  • Your data is not used to train AI models. Anthropic does not use API inputs or outputs for model training.
  • AI-generated summaries are stored within your DailyStandup account and are subject to the same data protection measures as all other account data.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these circumstances:

  • Service providers: We use third-party services to operate DailyStandup, including:
    • Supabase — database and authentication (backed by AWS infrastructure)
    • Vercel — hosting and deployment
    • Anthropic — AI processing for summaries
    • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • Integration providers: When you connect third-party tools (GitHub, Linear, Jira, Figma, Slack), data is exchanged with those services as needed to provide the integration features you enable.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Data Retention

  • Account data: Retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days.
  • Check-in data: Retained according to your plan's history limit (7 days on Free, 90 days on Pro, unlimited on Enterprise). Data beyond your retention window is permanently deleted.
  • Backups: Encrypted backups may retain deleted data for up to 90 days before automatic purging.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data:

  • All data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.2+.
  • All data at rest is encrypted using AES-256.
  • Access to production systems is restricted and logged.
  • We conduct regular security reviews of our infrastructure and code.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Update or correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your account and associated data.
  • Export your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities.

GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

  • Contract: Processing necessary to provide the Service you signed up for.

  • Consent: Where required, such as for optional analytics cookies.

You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us.

Children's Privacy

DailyStandup is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice on the Service or sending you an email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
